William R. Sims

Director of Airport Operations

William “Rob” Sims is a military veteran with over 17 years of honorable service and continues to serve in the US Army Reserve. Aviation has always been a staple of Rob’s life, starting with his first flight at just 3 years old in a PHI Helicopter in Houma, Louisiana. Ever since that day, his love and passion for aviation has grown and taken him to places all over the world, in the military, and as a civilian contractor.

Rob is a professional pilot and has been flying for over two decades in both fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft. He is ATP rated in fixed wing and rotor-wing aircraft and is PIC typed in the AW139, Mi-8, EC225, and the S-92A.  Rob also has extensive PIC experience in the S-76 Series, the Bell 206, 407, 412, AS350, and multiple fixed wing aircraft. He currently holds the position of Chief Pilot with Universal Air Service, LLC and is an integral part of their flight team to support the rocket launch missions and capsule recoveries.

In addition to flying, Rob is owner / operator of Flying S Farms and Sims Aero through which he operates as Airport Manager of Calhoun County Airport, F95. During his stewardship, the airport has rebuilt following extensive damage following the Category 5 Hurricane Michael in 2018, including the construction of a new terminal building, two new box hangars, a new weather reporting station, as well as multiple smaller improvement projects totaling over 5 million dollars.  Currently Rob is spearheading efforts to add 24 T-Hangar units, completing a fencing project essential to airport operations, playing an integral role in securing land for further airport expansions as well as overseeing a 3 million dollar building construction.  His knowledge in Airport Operations and Management are extensive and have been cultivated over the many years of aviation experience.
